Paramaecium’s Exhumed of the Earth (1993) is one of the most respected doom metal albums in both secular and Christian circles.

Musically, Christian metal has all of the heavy metal’s trademarks, particularly loud guitars, declamatory riffs, long solos, and pseudo-operatic vocals.[1] Christian metal is not a solitary style of music, on the contrary, it is comprised by almost every subgenre of heavy metal music. Therefore the only notable difference lies in the lyrics. The musicians within Christian Metal bands typically base their lyrics on Judeo-Christian traditions. The lyrical approach depends on bands: some emphasize in pointing out the positive aspects of faith matters, others iterate the teachings of Christ, and part of the bands keep their message gentle and covered in metaphors. Only a minority takes an aggressive attitude towards those who speak against Christianity, such as Vengeance Rising.[5]
The lyrical style varies depending on culture, denomination, and country. For example, in Northern Europe the bands usually prefer personal lyrical approach, which is seldom meant to “convert” in an aggressive manner. Christian bands almost never deny their conviction, but typically avoid preaching since they want their music to be entertaining while still containing their message. Some Christian metal bands do not declare their conviction at all and only concentrate on the entertainment aspect of music.[5]

Christian Metal is a form of heavy metal music which as well as its many subgenres contain Christian lyrics and themes. It is an umbrella term for metal bands that commonly feature inspirational and religious lyrics.[1]
Christian metal came to existence in the late 1970s Jesus movement, and was pioneered by United States’ Resurrection Band and Sweden’s Jerusalem. Los Angeles’ Stryper brought the genre into media spotlight during the mid 1980s. The term ”Christian metal” itself was born in 1984,[2] around the time when heavy metal music divided into numerous subgenres. At the same time the secular label Metal Blade Records came up with the term “white metal” in contrast to the rising black metal movement to market the doom metal band Trouble, known for its Biblical lyrics.[3] As a result, “white metal” was used interchangeably with “Christian metal” until the early 1990s when the mainstream popularity of the scene ended and the movement went underground. After that, English-speaking countries (North America, Australia, United Kingdom etc.) and Middle and Northern European scenes adopted the “Christian metal” term, while “white metal” remained in use in South America and southwestern Europe.[4] California’s Tourniquet and Australia’s Mortification lead the movement in the 1990s. The alternative metal groups P.O.D., Underoath, As I Lay Dying and Norma Jean pioneered the genre’s revival in the 2000s.
In the actual essence of the term, ”Christian metal” is a musical movement, but it has moreover established itself as a cross-genre term. Christian metal bands exist even in the more extreme subgenres, which is contrary to general belief that Christian metal represents softer styles of heavy metal music. For example, All Music Guide defines Christian metal musically as ”between arena rock and pop metal, though there are the occasional bands that are heavier.”[1] However, the only common link between most Christian metal bands are the lyrics, and often the Christian themes are melded with the subjects of the genre the band is rooted in, regularly providing a Christian take on the subject matter.

So… Music is music. It’s funny coz I listen to antiGod bands but I don’t accuse them coz it’s their music. I love listening to them. I just hope that they don’t accuse, backstab and change me because I am Catholic. I AM a Catholic.
I respect you even if you don’t do the same for me.

That night I never came home.
Wandering souls captured my thoughts..
Emptiness filled my mind.
Urgency spoke her lies.
In the confines in these gray walls.
I watched them move together.
Taking me places I cannot remember (remember).
We have been poured out…
Into this loveless bride..
How quickly I forget…
That this is meaningless.
How quickly I forget…
That this is meaningless.
In a world passing through my fingers.
I still chase the wind.
How quickly I forget…
That this is meaningless
How quickly I forget…
That this is meaningless

Posted by elenahitomi in : Uncategorized , add a commentNow I understand why I had a this week as somewhat, heavy.
I just found out that today or yesterday rather, was the feast of Jesus Forsaken.
I felt like the answers to all my transgressions had been lifted coz I knew why I was feeling down.

Badtrip yun kasi basta I told a lie by telling an alibi sa family ko jst to attend the jam.
Wednesday, gig ng SAINTJOHN at last band nanaman kame. So antagal. Tas badtrip ako not because last band kame, but because late nanaman ako nakauwe.
Oo sorry to say sa SAINTJOHN pero nahihirapan ako at I’ll put my foot down,
AKO na ang masusunod. And I don’t care, Randy, kung magtatampo ka. Okay so fine kakausapen mo ako bukas.
Batrip talaga,
Ayoko ng mag alibi. AYOKO NG MAGSINUNGALENG! AYOKO NG BUMALEK SA DATI !

“Pray without ceasing.” [Part 1] January 9, 2008

January 2008
(1 Thes 5:17)
This year the “Week of Prayer for Christian Unity” celebrates its centennial. The “Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity” was first celebrated on January 18-25, 1908. Sixty years later, in 1968, the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was then jointly prepared by the Commission on Faith and Order (World Council of Churches) and by the Secretariat for Promoting Christian Unity (Catholic Church). So from the time on, every year it has become common practice to meet together–Christians from the Catholic Church and from various Churches–to prepare a pamphlet with suggestions for the celebration of the Week of Prayer.

Will about to sleep… January 5, 2008
Posted by elenahitomi in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so far
Yeah… Guess what. I’m still awake. Hmf… Great…
Anyhue… My sister and I watched Beerfest on HBO and it was funny. It was kinda greeny though but it was funny. Now we’re still watching a movie on HBO with Nicholas Cage in it. It’s called Eight Millemeter. Pretty interesting stuff, and he’s a great actor at that.
I dunno. I feel a bit churpy and complacent and oximeronically giddy. I guess I’m a bit happy. I feel calm again. Oh common, my life is a yoyo. My moodswing’s a living see-saw for cyring out loud. Ha-ha. Up and down, sad and happy. Moody and not moody, etc etc. Hey common, I bet some of you or most of you feel the same way, eh?
All right… I have to sleep now. I just edited the rest of this blog’s pages and all that had the need for editing. Links, widgets, bloggy stuff. Done ‘em! Yeah, I’m feeling kinda bored.
Hey, you know what, I got back on my Japanese Self Study Lessons haha! I actually borrowed an Easy Japanese learning book and actually made on page 39 haha. And yesterday I went (back) to this Online Japanese tutor site and I started reading the lessons. Holy crap I’m a Japanese nerd again hahahaha! I just miss the old times where I’d self study on a language. I know Italian already (haha so vain…) and I would like to add a fourth language in my system. Did you know I wanted to be a linguist?
Geesh… Don’t ask what are the stuffs or professions (yeah, plural, not just one but a number…) that I want to become. I’d just feel disappointed due to the self-loathing self of my irrevocable vain-ness.
